Mekka Don was the son of Chukwuemeka (“Emeka”) N. Onyejekwe and Okey Onyejekwe (Nigerian immigrants) in Columbus, OH. He is the oldest of two older brothers and sisters, who are all practicing professionals. He attended St. Francis DeSales High school in Columbus, OH. There he was a star in two sports and was a member of DeSales’ State Champion football team as a sophomore and the soccer team as a freshman. He was invited to join the Ohio State University football team, where he played wide receiver and defensive back between 1999-2001.
