Albert “Max” Abramson, born April 29, 1976, is an American politician currently serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. He represents Rockingham District 20 (Hampton Falls and Seabrook), since 2018. From 2014 to 2016, he represented the same district. He was a candidate for the Libertarian Party nomination for 2020, but he resigned on March 3, 2020. He is most well-known for his role as the Libertarian nominee in New Hampshire for Governor in 2016, and for having switched parties nine times since 2012. He is currently running for the nomination of President in the Reform Party.
Abramson, who had been elected to the Legislature in 2016, switched to the Republican Party. He was re-elected to his seat in 2018.
Abramson officially announced his campaign for president under the Libertarian banner on June 30, 2019, two days after again leaving the Republican Party, and becoming an independent. During his campaign, Abramson was the only incumbent elected official running for the Libertarian nomination, however, he never actually joined the Libertarian Party. He stated that his primary campaign platform was to bring troops home and cut the national debt. Moreover, the goal of Abramson’s campaign was not “necessarily” to win the presidency, but to elect as many Libertarians to legislature seats as possible. Abramson quit the Libertarian Primary on March 3, 2020, subsequently ending his bid for the Libertarian presidential nomination.
Abramson was elected to New Hampshire House of Representatives in late 2014 as a Republican. He represented Rockingham district 20, which was then called Rockingham district 20. Abramson declared in May 2016 that he had switched from Republican to Libertarian party registration. He was elected the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire’s candidate to Governor of New Hampshire in September 2016. He received 4.3% of the popular votes. Gary Johnson’s campaign helped Abramson win major party status and automatic voter access for the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, for the first time since 20 years.

Abramson was detained after he fired a gun from his home. Abramson claimed that he was trying to end a fight at his home. Abramson was at the time a member the Seabrook Planning Board, and Budget Committee. Abramson was convicted in March 2012 of felony reckless conduct. Abramson ran in the Republican primaries in 2010 for the New Hampshire House of Representatives Rockingham District 14. He lost. After his resignation from the Seabrook Planning Board and Budget Committee Abramson declared a candidacy for the Rockingham County attorney’s position as a Libertarian. He noted that the office was “overstaffed”, and did not investigate “violence, sexual misconduct and theft by officers”.
Following the 2018 election, Abramson announced his return to the Libertarian Party to campaign for the 2020 Libertarian presidential nomination.
