Matthew Melton is one of the most popular and richest Singer- Songwriter who was born on November 10, 1982 in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Melton was born in Memphis Tennessee. His family comes from Melton Mowbray, an English town in Leicestershire. They settled in West Memphis in the 1900’s. He was trained in opera singing at an early age and has performed in many operas, including Tosca and Carmen. He was also a member of John Denver’s children’s backup choir. Memphis College of Art was where he presented his senior thesis, which included a series of photographs of Memphis’ high school cafeterias. Melton arranged his own arrest at the gallery show of his senior thesis, claiming that the photographs had been taken illegally. He was then forced to apologize for the incident in order to get his diploma.
Melton moved to Oakland and reformed Bare Wires, which originated in his home state. It initially featured Paul Keelan as bassist and Erin Emslie as drummer, but Heather Fedewa replaced them. In 2009, the band released Artificial Clouds, their first album. Melton produced the album and recorded it on an analog multitrack Tascam 388 analog multitrack, which he had previously used on Snake Flower 2. Jay Reatard also masterbroadcast the album. He was credited with writing, recording and producing the single Teardrops on my Telephone by the Hunx and His Punx. Melton described the band as “smooth pop”. The band was formed with Nathan Price as drummer and Fletcher Johnson as bassist. The band released three more albums: Seeking Love in 2010 and Cheap Perfume 2011 respectively. They also went through many lineup changes. They toured tirelessly with Melton confessing that all he wants is to be with people who love touring.
In 2012, Melton set up independent record label and recording studio Fuzz City where he is noted to have recorded and produced the majority of his music.
On returning to Oakland, Melton formed Warm Soda. Melton employed another revolving lineup, with the band initially featuring drummer Sam Lefebvre and guitarist Rob Good with Melton on vocals and bass. The lineup recorded the band’s debut single Reaction. The band released debut album Someone for You in March 2013 via John Dwyer’s label Castleface Records. The album was recorded with Frank Ene on bass. By the time they toured the album, the lineup featured bassist Chase Oren Asmussen and drummer Ian McBrayer along with Melton and Good. The album was recorded and produced by Melton and Good at their home studio Fuzz City.
Melton moved to San Francisco in 2007 after he left Memphis, Tennessee for California. After forming Snake Flower 2, Melton released a few singles and then released his debut album Renegade Daydream. The band was a rotating lineup that included Donelle Malnik and Will Axe as drummers. Melton said that the album was “the first set of songs I wrote after fleeing from the South”.

Matthew Michael Melton, born November 10, 1982, is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known for being the singer, guitarist, and songwriter behind Warm Soda. He also fronted Bare Wires, Snake Flower, and Snake Flower. Melton is currently the frontman of Dream Machine, along with his wife Doris. He has also released solo material.
Melton played briefly in the River City Tanlines bass section with Alicja Trout, frontwoman of Lost Sounds. He also performed with his own band, Memphis Break-Ups, while booking performances for Memphis venue XY&Z. He photographed Jay Reatard in 2006 for his cover of Blood Visions.
The band imploded in 2012, after drummer Omar Hernandez was hospitalised following an overdose (which Melton originally referred to as being a “self- induced health-related concern”) and the band were forced to use a replacement drummer for their shows at that years SXSW festival in Austin, Texas The band struggled through their sets with Tony Leal of the band Part Time on drums who they were teaching the songs “on the fly” and immediately disbanded and cancelled the remainder of their tour following the festival. Melton reportedly travelled back to Oakland by himself, and announced that “Bare Wires is over – some things aren’t made to go forever”.

After departing Castle Face, Matthew’s Fuzz City label took over distribution of the band. In the fall, Melton released his solo album Night Life, which was already planned for release at the time of the controversy. Dream Machine then released its second album, Breaking the Circle, in late 2017 (Matthew’s fourth album released in 2017). Band membership now consisted of Matthew on guitars and bass, Doris on piano and synthesizer, and Oskar Mead on drums.
