Mattar M'Boge is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Manager who was born on June 21, 1980 in Banjul, Gambia. Mattar M’Boge, a former football player and coach, is currently the head coach for the Gambia under-20 football team. He is also the assistant head coach for the Gambia National football team.
Real de Banjul F.C. appointed him as its head coach. He succeeded Franky van der Velde, the Belgian coach. In April 2014, he was appointed head coach of Real de Banjul F.C. After a six point deduction due to ineligible players, he was able to take over the team in fourth.
As head coach of the Gambia national under-20 football team he secured the 2018 WAFU/FOX U-20 Tournament title in his first international assignment. The tournament was hosted by Liberia and the Young Scorpions were the only unbeaten team in the tournament. This was the first ever trophy at U-20 level for the country and M’Boge became the first Gambian head coach to win an international trophy and also became the youngest coach to achieve this accolade so far.
M’Boge started his coaching career in 2004 whilst studying at Loughborough University, where he also gained his MSc. in Multimedia & Computing as well as his BSc. in Computing & Management and where he coached his teams to consecutive national league titles between 2005 and 2007.
He was part the national team that won an invitational tournament at Mbour, Senegal, in November 2014. Before he was named U17 Head coach in April 2015 on a 2-year contract. He was also the Assistant Head Coach of the national team in a 1-0 win over Mauritania, which was the first game for Gambia’s national football team in more than 18 months. He was still the Assistant Head Coach of the CHAN team, but he was eliminated in the qualifier round by Senegal, losing 1-3 in Dakar to Banjul.
