Matt Howard is one of the most popular and richest American basketball player who was born on January 23, 1989 in Connersville, Indiana, United States. Matt Howard, born January 23, 1989, is an American professional basketball player. He last played for Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League. He played college basketball for the Butler Bulldogs. He was a part of the 2009-10 and 2011-11 Butler Bulldogs men’s basketball teams that reached the NCAA Tournament championship.
He was awarded the MVP Award during the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament 2010. He was awarded the MVP Award again during the 2011 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament. This made him the first to be a four-time Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament All Tournament selection. He was named the Lou Henson Award for mid-major player and year. Howard was named the Horizon League Newcomer’s of the Year in 2007. He was selected for the second All-Horizon League team that year, and first team selections in each of the three subsequent seasons. As a sophomore and senior, he was selected to the Horizon League All-Defensive Team. He holds the Horizon League record for most free throws attempted and made (both league-only and all games). As a sophomore, he was the Horizon League’s leader in field goal percentage with a 55.0 average.
He is also known for eccentricities both on and off the court. Howard’s teammate Shelvin Mack told Reilly that Howard had six pairs of new shoes in his locker, but refused to wear them, preferring to stay with what Mack described as “ratty old ones”. Howard also habitually rode a rusted-out bicycle to Butler’s 6:00 am practices, regardless of the weather; during one 2011 ice storm, the handlebars bent under him while he was riding, causing him to fall onto the ice. He would say about this incident, “I fixed it. Just poured some WD-40 in there and bent them back. It’s a little risky to ride, I guess, but I can’t see buying a new one.” He also has a habit of spoonerism with people’s names; for example, he routinely calls Mack “Melvin Shack”.
In a story immediately before the 2011 Final Four, Rick Reilly noted that Howard “looks more like a geeky band-camp RA than a possible NBA first rounder”, but added:
He was selected for Academic All-American in 2009, 2010, and 2011. He was also named the 2011 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the year. The Associated Press honored Howard with an All-American honorable distinction in 2009. Howard was able to help Butler make consecutive trips to the final 4 and earned consecutive Elite 88 Awards for 2010-2011. Howard was also one the ten finalists in the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS award for men’s basketball.

The Bulldogs wouldn’t be anywhere near Houston without Howard. He’s the designated floor diver, the insatiable rebounder, the guy who sets the kind of picks that would stop an Amtrak train…. He’s the thing you love most in a college basketball player — a guy who just wants to win and doesn’t care who gets the credit. A guy who hits class by day and glass by night. A scabbed- knee grinder who finishes every game with his tank on E.
