Mary Elizabeth “Lizzy” Flores Flake (born on the 6th of December 1973, in Tegucigalpa) was a Honduran politician, lawyer as well as diplomat Palestinian origin, and the daughter of previous Honduran leader Carlos Flores Facusse. She is the mother of Mary Flake de Flores, who is American.
Flores has been elected as the member in the Liberal Party to the National Congress and also to public office with the highest percentage of votes across the country. She was also the youngest and first woman to be elected to the office of the First Vice-President of Honduras. National Congress of the Republic of Honduras (2006-2010) presided over Congressional discussions and Committee meetings, along with government institutions, International Community Education as well as civil society.
Flores presented her credentials to the Secretary General Ban Ki Moon as the Ambassador of Honduras to the United Nations. Flores was chosen as the first female Ambassador of Honduras to the United Nations representing the Government of Unity and Reconciliation. After returning Honduras to full participation in all regional groups and forums, in 2012 she was endorsed by the Latin America and the Caribbean Group (GRULAC) and was elected Vice- president of the United Nations General Assembly’s 67th Session.
In addition to her ambassadorial responsibilities, Flores holds the position of Liaison between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Honduran Government since 2014 working on Sustainable Development National Plan and Agenda.
Flores is the child of Carlos as well as Mary Flores. Their father, Carlos Roberto Flores, was president of Honduras between 1998 and 2002.

From 1997 until from 1997 to Flores worked as a journalist in her family’s paper, La Tribuna, founded by her father and grandfather in December of 1976, based the tradition of championing freedom of expression. She has published periodicals and magazines, both in both print and online formats, been a columnist for over a decadeand has also written an ongoing comic strip that is that is based on the symbol of the newspaperboy of the newspaper, named Tribunito and The Tribuna family.
Flores received an honors degree in 1997, earning an undergraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the College of Arts and Sciences in Loyola University, New Orleans where he was awarded the Kappa Tau Alpha award for excellence and academic excellence in Journalism. On January 25, 2006, Flores took office as Vice-President of the National Congress of Honduras, representing the Liberal Party. In April 2010, she became Permanent Representative of Honduras to the United Nations.
