Martin Robert Foster (born November 25 1963) is an umpire for Major League Baseball. After starting his career with the American League in 1996, Foster joined the staff of the league in 1999. He has been working across both major leagues since 2000. Foster has been an umpire in 2 All-Star Games and three League Division Series.

Foster is the official at home plate in his 300th career win for Tom Glavine, on August 5 in 2007 in Wrigley Field. Foster was also the second base umpire during Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Garza’s no-hitter at the Detroit Tigers on July 26 2010. Foster was kicked out Tigers Manager Jim Leyland from that game in the third inning of the game.

While serving as the plate umpire again an April 7, 2018 game between the Washington Nationals and New York Mets, Foster made a controversial strike three call on Anthony Rendon. Rendon flipped his bat, prompting Foster to eject him along with Nationals manager Dave Martinez.

His first postseason assignment was the 2006. National League Division Series. He also officiated for the 2008 American League Division Series as well as The 2002 All-Star Game.
