He is most well-known for his collaborations with a variety of musicians and bands, like The Struts, Aerosmith, Gavin Rossdale, Carrie Underwood, Buckcherry, Daughtry, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue and Faith Hill. Also, he is well-known for his lead vocals of the fictional group Stillwater in the film Almost Famous.
Frederiksen is also a skilled mix engineer, producer as well as engineer. He mixed Metallica’s and Aerosmith’s Guitar Hero Editions. He also composed the hit track of Faith Hill “Cry,” for which she received an “Best Vocal Performance” Grammy. In 2010, he released an album that was a tribute to Western musicians, Siam Shade Tribute, for the Japanese rock group Siam Shade.
Frederiksen was a member of the school choir in 10th grade. “The teacher was assigning parts and handing parts out, and I was waiting for the others to pick it up.” As usual, Marti was restless, and that drives his ideas. He could hear the big picture, pick out the possibilities, and create new harmonies. “So I started making up new parts and singing them.” The teacher caught on, and she didn’t have much patience for a childhood prodigy rearranging the score. “It got me kicked out of choir.”
He also co-produced 3 tracks on Aerosmith’s fifteenth studio album, Music from Another Dimension!, released in November 2012. He also co-wrote 5 tracks on that record. One co-produced and written song is a duet with Carrie Underwood titled “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.”
Frederiksen has collaborated with a variety of artists, writing and/or performing on albums like his Almost Famous soundtrack (as the singer of the fictional group Stillwater) as well as The Def Leppard’s X and co-wrote “I Should Have Told You” on Fuel’s 2007 album Angels & Devils. He also co-wrote the hit Buckcherry song “Sorry” and co-wrote all 13 songs from Motley Crue’s album Saints of Los Angeles. He also wrote or co-written songs with Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne and Brothers Cane, Outlaw Blood, Motherland (which was the Jason Bonham Group with Marti taking over Daniel MacMaster), Jonny Lang, Hannah Montana (as Miley Cyrus), Scorpions, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the late Jeff Healey, Meat Loaf, Bo Bice, Richie Sambora, James Durbin, Jesse McCartney, Ace Frehley, Sheryl Crow, Cinder Road, Suzie McNeil, Default and Black Lab. Gavin Rossdale co-wrote his hit song, “Love Remains the Same” *(for which he received an award in 2010 for the BMI Pop Award in the US and London.) He wrote and produced every song from Foreigner’s album of 2009″Can’t Stop. Marti composed and produced Vince Neil’s single and the title track from his album, Tattoos and Tequila. Frederiksen also wrote the song with Marti “Walk Away” from Black Veil Brides the fourth album.

Frederiksen has written a number Aerosmith’s songs from the mid-1990s onwards. These include four songs from the 1997 album Nine Lives (including the single “Nine Lives”), 10 of the tracks on 2001’s Just Push Play (including the singles “Jaded”, “Fly Away from Here” as well as “Sunshine”), both of the brand new tracks from 2002’s O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits (including the single “Girls of Summer”) as well as the only original track from the cover album Honkin”on Bobo” (“The Grind”).
