In the 2014 elections , she was elected to the Senate of the Republic, which she held until fifteen February until demise.
She was a member of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the Colorado Party. On the 8th of March, 2012, she was elected the Secretary General of the Colorado Party. It was only the second woman within Uruguayan history to be in the highest position of representation within a political party.
