On July 31, 2019 her nomination was approved by the Senate by 87-3. The judicial commission received her nomination on the 19th of August, 2019.
On July 7 on the 7th of June in 2018 the President Trump announced his intention to nominate Pacold to be the United States District Judge in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. On June 11, 2018 her nomination was made by the Senate. President Trump has nominated Pacold to fill the seat left vacant of John W. Darrah, who was elevated to senior status on March 1st 2017. On the 22nd of August in 2018a public hearing regarding her nomination took place before the Senate Judiciary Committee. On October 11, 2018 her nomination was voted to the committee in through a vote of 18-3.
