Marsha Kay Frese Elliott (born on March 2 1972) is an American college basketball coach. She is currently serving as an assistant coach at Boston College. She was previously the head coach of women’s basketball at UMKC.

Brenda was then offered the position of head coach as head coach at Maryland and Marsha was hired to coach her during the 2002-03 season that she was the head coach for. Marsha continued to focus on recruiting and helped Maryland to sign one of the top recruitment classes in the country that went on to be the champions of National Championship. After a single time with Maryland, Marsha chose to move to Illinois to become an assistant coach to Hall of Fame coach Theresa Grentz. After four years in Illinois and become an assistant coach, and to become the assistant director of coaching, Marsha came back to Ball State as an assistant coach. Head coach at Ball State, Tracy Roller was an assistant to the Ball State staff when Marsha first began her work at Ball State.

The 2014–2015 season proved a challenging one as the Roos welcomed a freshmen recruiting class of 7. While highly ranked the class, went through the expected growing pains and finished 6-23 overall. By season’s end the UMKC freshmen ranked #1 in the country in minutes played, points scored and rebounds among all Division 1 teams. Off the court, UMKC was tops again academically posting the highest GPA in Division 1 basketball for the second consecutive season.

2015-2016 showed the true growth of the highly ranked class of Roos, finishing with a 10–18 record and 5–9 finish in WAC play. Poised for a breakout year in 2016–2017 season, UMKC growth stalled with injuries to starters for a combined 18 games, and an epilepsy diagnosis to All-Conference selection Aries Washington. Frese’s contract was not renewed after the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season.

Frese began her coaching professional career in the role of assistant coach for Ball State where her sister Brenda Frese was the head coach. She was in the position for two seasons, running from 1999 until 2001. In 2001, when Brenda (at that at the time Brenda Oldfield) became appointed the head coach for Minnesota, Marsha joined the team in the role of assistant coach. Her focus was on recruiting and she assisted in recruiting the top 15 college class in the nation. The Gophers on the field had the most dramatic turnaround in the nation after an their 8-20 record, with a 22-8 record , which improved their win percentage by 14.
