Born from Schesslitz, Upper Franconia, Feulner was a student at his time at the Bayern Munich academy, but was not able to secure the chance to play in the team. In January 2004, he joined for struggling team 1. FC Koln. Affected by injuries, Feulner could only play 38 games for the team’s first team over two and a quarter seasons when the club moved into as well as out of top division.
After a second relegation to Koln at the end of 2006 Feulner was signed on for 1. FSV Mainz 05. In the years since, despite the fact that Mainz was dropped the following year it, he grew into an effective midfielder for the club . He was believed to have attracted the attention of more prestigious teams like Bayer Leverkusen.
