Mark Stanway (born 27 July 1954) is an English musician from England. He was the keyboardist for Magnum, an English Prog Rock band Magnum from 1980 until the close of 2016.

On December 9, 2016 Mark announced that he’s quit Magnum halfway through their five-date Divine Lies Winter Tour. He cited “irrevocable circumstances”. . After Mark’s break-up from Magnum he has been performing in The Sweden Rock Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and has been performing the series of “An Intimate Night With shows. In the year 2018 Mark created a new group called ‘Kingdom of Madness that will perform Magnum music from the Magnum’s Classic era of 1976 to 1994. The seven-piece group includes Stanway (Magnum from 1980 to 2016) and the former Magnum drummer Micky Barker(1985-95) and the former Magnum keyboardist and Flautist Richard Bailey (1973-74, 1976-80) along with singer and drummer Mo Birch (UB40, Culture Club and numerous others) Mo has also toured and recorded with Magnum as well as guitarist Laurence Archer (Stampede, Grandslam & UFO) Laurence also played along with Magnum during

1984. as did bassist Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath among many others) along with vocalist Chris Ohusey (Heartland and Snakecharmer) In July 2019, Neil Murray was amicably replaced by Brian Badhams (Ex Rainmaker, Steve Gibbons Band, Alaska and still performs alongside Ellie Brooks) Archer has left and his replacement has yet to be made public.

Mark was a keyboardist on Magnum’s wildly successful On a Storyteller’s Night album. The band’s success continued into the next season with Roger Taylor produced Vigilante in 1986, and the top 5 album Wings of Heaven in 1988 and The Keith Olsen produced Goodnight L.A. which peaked at the top spot at No. 9 on the UK chart in the year 1990. The Magnum era of peaking is considered by many to be”the” Classic Magnum Era.

This band eventually evolved to become Grand Slam, Sykes later quit for Whitesnake but was replaced later by Laurence Archer upon Mark’s recommendation. In 2016, Mark returned to Grand Slam for a Sweden Rock Festival performance featuring Micky Barker (ex Magnum) on drums, Neil Murray on bass, Laurence Archer on guitar and Stefan Berggren on vocals. Through his time, Mark was recorded or performed with a variety of notable artists, such as Robert Plant, Roy Wood, M3 Classic Whitesnake, with the original Whitesnake musicians Moody, Marsden and Murray, Swiss Star Bastian Baker Jimmy Copley Manfred Mann’s Earthband, The Quireboys, The Dogs D’amour, Mississippi blues singer Lisa Mills, Karl Wayne, Junior Giscombe, Spike Gray, Simon Kirke, Luke Morley, The Sweden Rock Symphony Orchestra and many others.
