Mark Segal is one of the most popular and richest Author who was born on January 12, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Mark Allan Segal (born 1951) is an American journalist from the United States. He was a participant in the Stonewall protests and was one of the first creators of the Gay Liberation Front where he developed the Gay Youth program. He was the founding and then President of the National Gay Newspaper Guild and the publisher and founder of the Philadelphia Gay News. He has received many journalism prizes in recognition of the columns he wrote for “Mark my Works,” including the best column from The National Newspaper Association, Suburban Newspaper Association and The Society of Professional Journalist.

Segal collaborated together with Obama Administration to create and create the first national “LGBT Friendly” Senior Affordable housing building. The 19.8 million dollars project, dubbed as the John C. Anderson Apartments began construction in 2013.

On May 17, 2018, Segal donated 16 cubic feet of personal papers and artifacts to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

He was arrested in 1975 and participated on hunger strike in 1975 on behalf of the passing of a law that guaranteed equality for gays. The year 1976 was the time he established The Philadelphia Gay News, a bisexual, lesbian, gay and transgender (LGBT) newspaper that was based in the Philadelphia region. The newspaper was influenced by the activist Frank Kameny, whom Segal first met in the year 1970. It was in 1988 that Segal participated in a live debate on television with the Philadelphia municipal councilmember, Francis Rafferty, about Gay Pride Month.
