Mark Schauer is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on October 2, 1961 in Howell, United States. Mark Hamilton Schauer (born October 2nd in 1961) is an American politician, a member of the Democratic Party and former U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 7th congressional district in office from 2009 until 2011.

At the General Election, Schauer was defeated by Walberg 49%-46 In the general election, Schauer defeated Walberg 49%-46 %. He took four of the seven counties in the district: Calhoun (56%), Washtenaw (51%), Eaton (50%) and Jackson (48 percent). This is only the third Democrat to be elected to this district following World War I; the district was originally numbered”the 2nd District” prior the redistricting round in the 1990s.

In 1993, Schauer ran for a seat on the Battle Creek City Commission and lost by 200 votes. However, he was later appointed to fill an unexpired term and was then elected to a full term in 1995. He earned a master’s degree in Political Science from Michigan State University in 1997.

In 1996, Schauer ran for the 62nd district of the Michigan House of Representatives. He won re-election in 1998 and in 2000, with 67% of the vote.

Schauer was also the founding director of Battle Creek Habitat for Humanity in

1988. He was recognized for his 15 years of service when he was awarded”the “2003 Public Official of the Year” by Habitat for Humanity of Michigan. Schauer is also actively involved in the support of for the Food Bank of South Central Michigan as well as The Urban League of Battle Creek.

Schauer was an urban planner with his employer, the Calhoun County Planning Department, between 1984 and 1987, as he pursued his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Following his graduation the year 1987, he took the position of program development in the Community Action Agency in Battle Creek. The director soon after, quit for a different position, and Schauer was chosen to lead the CAA which, at the time, comprised of 200 employees. It also had an executive board of directors that included 21 members and had a variety of programs for people in need that included home weatherization and a foster grandparent program along with food assistance and the Head Start program for children.

Schauer was born in and was raised from Howell, Michigan. The mother of his son, Myra (Trafton), was a registered nurse as was his dad, Robert Schauer, was a science teacher at the high school. He was the valedictorian of his school of Howell High School. He then graduated with a with a summa cum laude degree at Albion College in 1984, which was where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, Phi Beta Kappa as well as The Gerald R Ford Institute for Public Policy.

He also serves on the board of directors of the Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum in Albion. He was a coordinator of the Calhoun County Human Services Coordinating Council, 1992-1997.
