The year 2003 saw Lockheart was a member of the British jazz band Polar Bear. The band has recorded several albums. One of them was Hold by the Tips of Fingers which was nominated to win the Mercury Award and was selected as one among the top 100 Jazz Albums That Shook the World by Jazzwise magazine.
Following the demise from Loose Tubes, Lockheart formed the jazz/folk group Perfect Houseplants with Huw Warren, Dudley Phillips, and Martin France. The group recorded five albums with two of them with The Orlando Consort. The group was currently Lockheart The Scratch band was performing his own compositions. The band recorded two albums that included Imaginary Dances. In 2005, Lockheart made the album “Big Idea” to record the album Moving Air.
In July 2014 Lockheart formed the trio Malija with pianist Liam Noble and bassist Jasper Hoiby as a result of a request from the Rochester Jazz Festival in New York. “Malija” released its debut album entitled The Day I Had Everything on the Edition record label in 2015.
