Mark Herrmann is one of the most popular and richest Former American football player who was born on January 8, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Mark Donald Herrmann (born January 8 1959) is an ex- American professional and college footballer who played player in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons throughout the 1990s and 1980s. Herrmann played in the NCAA football tournament for Purdue University, and was named an All-American. He then was a professional player for five NFL teams. After his retirement as a football player, he was promoted to the position of Director of Education Programs as Associate for the NCAA and is currently working as a radio broadcaster for local football. He was a part of the Indianapolis Colts broadcast crew for more than 10 years.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in May of 2010.

Herrmann was chosen to the Denver Broncos in 1981, but he didn’t play the first season after leaving college. He played in 1982 and played at two matches, however towards the end of the season, he transferred for the Baltimore Colts as part of the deal which was able to bring John Elway to Denver. In 1983 and 1984, Herrmann played in a limited capacity with the Colts initially in Baltimore and later at Indianapolis. Then, in 1985, he was dealt for the San Diego Chargers, where he played for three years and did well as the back-up for Dan Fouts. Herrmann was then a part of the Los Angeles Rams in 1988-89 before returning back to Colts in 1988-89. Colts for three seasons before retiring in the year 1992.

Herrmann was a student at Purdue University, where he was a player on Jim Young’s Purdue Boilermakers football team from 1977 until 1980. Herrmann was a star in his college career. In 1980, the year he was named an All-American on the consensus first-team He was also selected as the conference’s Big Ten’s Most Valuable Player, and He was fourth in the vote in the Heisman Trophy. The 9,946 yards he accumulated in his career was the NCAA record (which was later broken). Herrmann is among only three Purdue quarterbacks to play with three straight bowl matches (Drew Brees was the other as well, and Kyle Orton started four straight). Herrmann has won every one of his bowl games and was named the Most Valuable Player in each of them: 1978’s Peach Bowl, 1979 Bluebonnet Bowl, and the 1980 Liberty Bowl. Herrmann also has the Liberty Bowl record for passing touchdowns.

Herrmann was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Carmel, Indiana, where he played football in the high school at Carmel High School. He also played for Carmel’s national championship basketball team in 1977.
