In 2007 De Mori signed a three-year agreement with boxing promoter Don King. King pointed to “youth and exciting style” as the main reason he placed trust in De Mori as he progressed through the ranks. After a year of his contract together with King, De Mori scored an eight-round victory by unanimity over Ed Mahone in New Zealand. Mahone was considered to be the favorite prior to the fight, but was beaten by De Mori’s “jab and move’ style of fighting.
