Mark Clarke (born 25 July 1950 in Liverpool) is a famous English musician, bassist and singer. He is best known for his work in jazz-rock group Colosseum and rock group Uriah Heep.
In 2010, Mark Clarke released his first solo album Moving to the Moon, co- produced with Ray DeTone, who also played all the guitars on the album.
In 2017 Mark Clarke became a member of a new trio band called JCM. Other members of the band were drummer Jon Hiseman and guitarist Clem Clempson. The band recorded an album “Heroes” late in 2017 and it was released in April
- JCM begun touring Europe on 7 April 2018 but the tour ended after the show on the 22nd of April in Bonn due Jon Hiseman*s illness. Rest dates of the tour were cancelled. Jon Hiseman died in June 2018 which initially appeared to be the end of JCM, however in early 2019 it was announced that band would continue with Ralph Salmins taking over drums. Tours of Europe and the UK took place throughout 2019.
In 1975, he founded Natural Gas with Joey Molland, Jerry Shirley and Peter Wood. He also played briefly in Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. In 1980 , he began working together with Billy Squier and recorded Don’t Say No, The Stroke, In the Dark and several other albums together. In 1986, he performed in the same band as The Monkees, and until the present time, still collaborated alongside Davy Jones. Clarke has also performed twice between 1984 and 1985, as well as 1995-1996, together with Mountain, Ian Hunter and Torque and recorded albums with them all.

After having seen the Beatles as well as different bands around Liverpool when he was a child at 12 years old He decided to become an experienced bass player. In 1966, Mark Clarke played with the Kegmen and in 1968, with the Locomotive and in late 1968, with St. James Infirmary. Liverpool Echo called him in an article entitled “The Joe Cocker of Liverpool”.
After an entire year of local shows, He relocated to London in the year 2000, and met Clem Clempson who was a member at the at the time with Colosseum. After a while, Mark was approached from Jon Hiseman to join Colosseum in the summer of 1970. was a member of the group until the end of the year in 1971 when the band split and again for 21 years later after their reunion, in 1994 until the final goodbye in the year 2015. Following the Colosseum ended its run, he was in the year 1971/72 as a member of Uriah Heep. They performed (and writing) on one of their studio tracks, “The Wizard”, on the album Demons and Wizards. In the early part of 1973 the band was renamed Jon Hiseman’s Tempest and was a bassist on two Tempest studio albums featuring Allan Holdsworth, Ollie Halsall and Paul Williams, and a live album that was released later. He also played for Ken Hensley’s solo album.
With Colosseum he played again from the reunion in 1994 to the farewell concert at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on 28 February 2015.
