Marios Matsakis is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on August 2, 1954 in Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus. Marios Matsakis (born 2 August 1954) is a doctor of Greek origin coroner, forensic pathologist, coroner and politician who was a an elected Member of the European Parliament and Member of the House of Representatives for the Democratic Party. Within the European Parliament it was a member in members of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. He began his political career during the middle of the 1990s. He announced on December 29, 2007 that he was running to be president during the Cypriot elections for president. He received 0.77 percent of the national vote, and was fourth in the polls ahead of the three main candidates.

As of 2008, the Matsakis pleaded not to receive “offensive” emails by fellow MEPs. These emails included invitations to attend the European Parliament’s “Different Families, Same Love” exhibition that showcased LGBT family members of mixed races and LGBT. He also complained to President of the European Parliament about posters for the exhibit that were hung close to his office. LGBT activists from Cyprus highlighted Matsakis lack of honesty about his position on “non-normal” families, as his own family was home to the birth of a child outside of marriage regardless of being a member of Greek Orthodox beliefs. When he appeared on The talk-show Tolmo on the show in 2012 Matsakis declared the fact that “homosexuality is not normal” but claimed that there was no homophobia in Cyprus despite several studies conducted by The EU and other organizations finding that Cyprus is among the countries with the highest homophobic rates in Europe.

Matsakis is a native of Limassol. The graduate graduated from University of London in 1976 with an BSc in microbiology. He then was awarded an MSc on biochemistry by the year 1981. He earned their medical degrees from University of Cambridge in 1984 and then specialized on forensic medical at University of Glasgow, where was awarded an MPhil in 1992. He later relocated to Greece to continue his research in the field of the field of forensic pathology. Then he returned in Cyprus during 1994. He initially took a job in the medical profession, however, he soon began to become interested in politics, and was elected an MP in 1996.
