Marine Petrossian is one of the most popular and richest Poet who was born on August 16, 1960 in Yerevan, Armenia. Marine Petrossian (written also as Marine Petrossian, Armenian: Marine Petrosyan ; born 16 August 1960) is an Armenian poet, essayist , and columnist.
The year 2015 saw Argentinian editor Audisea published Disparo El arma by Petrossian. The book contains poems that were translated in Spanish from Alice Ter-Ghevondian. The launch of the book was held on the National Library of Argentina and the well-known newspaper Pagina/12 asked Petrossian to speak with them.
The start of Marine Petrossian’s literary career coincided with the ending of the Soviet Union. Her first book was published in Yerevan in 1993, just two years after Armenia, formerly Soviet Republic, became independent.
Marine Petrossian is largely known in Armenia as columnist. Between 2007 and 2009, a time of political tensions before and following the Armenian president’s election in 2008, she wrote an op-ed column every week in Haikakan jamanak (Armenian Times) daily, Armenia’s main opposition newspaper. Her articles on the political issues that were of the moment had an unprecedentedly large audience as well as made her an well-known name in Armenia Many TV shows allow her to speak on current issues. The essays were later collected in her book, Red Poster (2011). The year 2007 saw Petrossian was awarded the “Tigran Hayrapetian” award for her essay “Why the War does not Come to an End”.

The poems contained in the book have been translated in French in the work of Vahe Godel. In 1995, French Editions Comp’Act published J’apporterai des pierres by Petrossian. The publisher was ecstatic by the popularity of the book (a positive review in addition to other reviews that was published by Le Monde ) Editions Comp’Act quickly published the follow-up book from Marine Petrossian, Erevan, 2003.
Petrossian has been a writer-in residence at the Djerassi Artists Residency, Woodside, California, as Artist in Residence of the UNESCO-Aschberg bursaries (2005) as well as at Q21 Q21, MuseumsQuartier Vienna (2013) and at Q21, MuseumsQuartier Vienna (2013) in addition, at the Omi International Arts Center, New York City (2015).
Petrossian’s essay “Antipoetry, or When the Poet Does Not Seek an Alibi” has aroused intense discussions in Armenian literary circles. In this essay, Petrossian speaks about “antipoetry”—poetry that does not look like poetry and challenges the prevailing notion of poetry—and asserts that it is the leading tendency in contemporary Armenian poetry.
