Marina Weisband (born 4 October 1987 in Kiev) is an German politician from Germany. From May 2011 to April 2012, she served as Politische Geschaftsfuhrerin (“Political Director”) of the Pirate Party Germany.

The month of April, 2012 backed from other top Pirate Party figures, she demanded that members of her party fight antisemitism, right-wing extremism, and antise within their own group. Der Spiegel suggested that the Pirate Party needed to dispel the perception that it is an environment that was tolerant of radical extremists. Then, shortly afterward, Weisband declared that she will not run for to run for re-election in November due to the necessity to pursue her psychology degree. She has not ruled out the possibility of a return to politics once she had completed her degree.

Weisband is the Pirate Party’s most recognised face, appealing particularly to younger voters with her “laid-back style”. In 2013 she published a book advocating direct, “liquid” democracy.

She revealed in September 2016 that she had left the Pirate Party the previous year and was focussing on the Aula project, an initiative to facilitate children’s participation in politics using software she had developed that was being tested in four German cities.
