Marika is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on December 14, 1980 in Białystok, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Poland. Marika (born Marta Kosakowska on 14 December, 1980) is an Polish musician, singer as well as a radio DJ. She is currently performing avant-pop. She was earlier popular for her Caribbean-influenced music that included reggae, dancehall and soul and funk. She was known as “the First Lady of Polish dancehall” and was praised for her lively performances and clear lyrics. She also had a brief but profitable career as a prime time television hosting host from Poland.

She also was featured as a guest on Morowe panny that was released to mark the Warsaw Uprising. On October 12, 2012 Marika dropped her third studio album Momenty that she co-produced with her group Spokoarmia. The album was the inspiration for the hit song titles “Baqaa” and “Widok”. In May 2013 her album was dropped Chilli Zet Live Sessions, an album that consists of acoustic versions of tracks from her previous albums. From 2013 until mid-2014 she hosted 3 seasons on The Voice of Poland broadcast on TVP2 The Voice of Poland, the Polish version of the popular reality show for singers called The Voice. In the autumn of 2014, she co-hosted the show SuperSTARcie as well on TVP2. In the meantime, she was able to take part in two other historic projects: Panny Wyklete and Panny Wyklete: Wygnane Vol. 1.

On her next album, titled simply Marta Kosakowska, the singer shifted from reggae and dancehall towards electronic avant-pop. Released in October 2015, the album was preceded by the singles “Tabletki” and “A jeśli to ja”, and was accompanied by Marika’s radical change of image. It received positive reviews and charted within the top 40 in Poland. In 2016, she released the book Antydepresanty which consisted of lyrics, stories and black-and-white illustrations. She began recording the new album in 2017, and the following year released a remix of her debut single “Moje serce”.

Marika divorced her first husband around the beginning of her solo career. She married her second husband in March 2016.

On the 8th of June, 2010 Marika dropped her sophomore studio album entitled”PUT YOUR SKINS ON/OFF. It came with two CDs, one featuring new songs and the other featuring remixes. The album’s first single album is “Uplifter”. The album also scored a Top 20 hit and received favorable reviews. On July 4, 2010, she performed with the same lineup as Nas as well as Damian Marley at the Open’er Festival in Gdynia. The album Put Your Shoes On/Off has been nominated to win the Fryderyk award in the Album of the Year category, which includes Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggae. In the middle of 2011, Marika released the music video for her song in three languages “Esta Festa” (Portuguese for “It’s a Party”) where she sings the song in Polish, English and Portuguese.

In 2002, she made her debut as the lead vocalist in the group Bass Medium Trinity. The group released their record Mowisz i masz (Polish for You Say and You Have) in 2004 it was the first album with Polish lyrics made using the original Jamaican riddims. The album was released at the same time that Marika was part of the group Breakbeat Propaganda. The year 2005 was the time she performed as a soloist in the production of the theatre twelve lawek (12 Benches) in Gdynia and also accompanied Macy Gray during her concert in Warsaw’s Congress Hall. The year 2006 was the first time Marika took part in the Polish-German musical project called Polski ogien (Polish Fire) and composed two tunes: “Sila ognia” (on “Doctor’s Darling” riddim) and “What’s Ya Flava” (on “Curefix” riddim).

In 2007 Marika released her first Solo single “Moje serce” (“My Heart”) through Karrot Kommando. Marika then joined Pomaton EMI and released her debut album as a solo artist Plenty on the 22nd of August in 2008. It was a top 20 album on the Polish charts of albums and was received positive reviews. The album was released in October. began broadcasting her own talk show titled Nie tylko reggae (Not only Reggae) at Radio Euro. The next calendar year Plenty received a nomination for Polish music prize Fryderyk within the R&B/Hip-Hop Album of The Year category. Additionally, Marika was nominated in the”New Face of Phonography category. in the spring of 2009 the song in English “So Sure” was released as the album’s final single Plenty. The album was then followed by an EP entitled So Remixed that featured several remixes. The album was released in September 2009. Marika began a new radio program, Towary kolonialne that was posted that was on Roxy FM.

In 2014, Marika went through a spiritual awakening and started practicing Catholicism. She does, however, define herself as a “person of faith” rather than “religious”.
