For several years following in 1990 Marin spent her free time in Paris in France and Bucharest. She was employed at “Contrapunct”, an independent and spirited Romanian literary and cultural magazine. She also involving herself in a variety of journalism-related projects. In the past decade, she traveled often, and was invited to numerous European festival of literature. The next book she wrote called Mutilarea Artistului la tinerete (The Mutilation of the artist during his Youth) was unanimously applauded and won a number of major literary awards. In the autumn of 2000 she was in Berlin as a writer’s fellowship. A year later, she was awarded the “Virgil Mazilescu” special literary prize.
As she became more openly opposed to Nicolae Ceausescu’s dictatorship Her next volume, Aripa secreta (The Secret Annex) utilized a common method of avoiding censorship by making a stunning diary, as well as a dialog in, with Anne Frank, a thinly hidden metaphor for life in the camp which Romania was forced to enter during the final days of communist rule. The school she attended was Bucharest in the midst of the Romanian relative freedom in culture during the 1960s and 1970s, she went on earn a Ph.D. at Bucharest’s University of Bucharest in 1980 beginning a primary school teacher’s career that lasted nearly 10 years. She began her teaching career in a small town along the Danube before moving to Bucharest. Her first collection of poetry, Un razboi de o suta de ani (A Hundred Year War) was released the following year. It was also awarded the Romanian Writers Union Prize for her first venture into poetry. In 1982, Marin was among four other writers from the 1980s in a book that was a collection of their work, Cinci (Five), under the direction of Nicolae Manolescu. He was the head of the”so-called “Monday Poetry Circle” all members attended.

In 2002 she published a career retrospective, Zestrea de aur (The Dowry of Gold), her final book.
