Mariam Naigaga Biography

Mariam Naigaga is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 22, 1979 in Namutumba, Namutumba District, Uganda. Naigaga was born in the Namutumba district, Busoga sub-regionon the 22nd of May, 1979 to a Muslim family belonging to the Basoga. Her primary education was in her district of Namutumba getting her PLE accreditation in 1992.

After completing her bachelor’s degree Naigaga was hired by Centenary Bank where she served for 13 years, between 2003 and 2015, and gained extensive experience about financial management throughout the process. Naigaga began as a bank clerk from 2003 until 2007. She was later promoted to supervisor of branches and was in that position until 2009 after which she was elevated to assistant branch manager in 2009. She was promoted to branch manager, and remained there until her departure in 2015. to enter an elective party.

Following her resignation from Centenary Bank and subsequently kick-starting her political career, Naigaga bid for the Namutumba District Woman Representative seat on the NRM ticket and won both the NRM party primaries in 2015 and the general elections in 2016 to become a member of the 10th Parliament for the Pearl of Africa.

In the 10th Parliament, Naigaga serves on the special Presidential Advisory Committee on Budget (PACOB) and is a member of the Budget Committee and the Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development. She is also a member of the Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change (PFCC), the Uganda Parliamentary Forum for Children (UPFC), the Uganda Women’s Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) and the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection (UPFSP).

Naigaga continued her studies at Makerere University where she graduated in 2002 with the degree of Bachelor of Science with a major in Statistics. In the same higher education institution she earned a Master of Finance in the year 2011.

Mariam Naigaga (born 22 May 1979) is an Ugandan banker, statistician , and politician. She is the elected Women’s Representative for the Namutumba District in the 10th Parliament. She is also an active part of the NRM, the main political group in Uganda. She is a member of the special Presidential Advisory Committee on Budget (PACOB) and is an active part of both the Budget Committee and the Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development in the Parliament.

Naigaga later attended Bugobi High School for her O-level education. She obtained the UCE certification in the year 1996, and later St. Mathias Kalemba Senior Secondary School Nazigo for her A-Level studies which is where she earned UACE accreditation in 1998.

Naigaga is a former branch manager of Centenary Bank where she secured employment over a thirteen-year period from 2003 up until 2015 when she resigned to join elective politics. She is also a member of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS) and the East African Banking School.
