Callahan, who was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and co-songwriter of the power pop Portland, Oregon band Doris Daze, was a key figure in the 1990s. Before disbanding in 1999, Doris Daze had released two albums: Uncle (1994), and Perpetual Happiness Machine(1997).
Dry was released September 2011. Music critic S.P. Clarke stated that “Maria is an excellent musician…with Dry, she stakes her claim to a barren stylistic terrain earning a hard-carved harvest.” You can find the music video for He’s Your problem Now, which was directed by Mette of Vancouver, BC.
In 2012, Maria co-founded Molly Miller Band with drummer Charles Nelson, but disbanded it in 2013. Maria also performs with the all-female Merle Haggard Tribute Band, Gerle Haggard Band that she founded in April 2013.
Callahan returned to the studio after 10 years of being away and began work on a number of country songs in winter 2009. Callahan is back in the studio, this time collaborating with Danny O’Hanlon of Perpetual Happiness machine. Dry is Callahan’s first solo album. Callahan wrote ten of the eleven songs and provided most of the instruments and vocals. Rob Barteletti and Nick Peets, both Portland-area songwriters, co-wrote the song Don’t you Let Me Down.

Callahan formed Doris Daze in 1993 with Scott Crabtree, Eric Merrill, and Erin Moreland. This Portland-based band has enjoyed much success and loyal fans.
Doris Daze performed to packed houses, did tour stints in Oregon penitentiaries, and was a frequent performer on the stages at NXNW. The band received regular radio play on college and FM radios and began receiving interest from the record industry.
