Mari Holden is one of the most popular and richest Sport Cyclist who was born on March 30, 1971 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Mari Kim Holden (Holden–Paulsen married; born March 30, 1971), is an American ex-cyclist who won the 2000 world time trial championship after winning the Olympic Games time trial in Sydney. She was also the first American woman in history to win the U.S. road and time trial championships. Now, she is the UCI Women’s Team Sho Air TWENTY20’s Director Sportie.

The 1996 event was part the trial to select Olympic team members. Selection was based on performance in both road and time trials. Holden won both the time trials but did not do well in road race, so she failed to qualify.

That year (2000), Holden was elected to the board of directors of USA Cycling and re-elected in 2004. She formerly served on the athletic advisory committee to the U.S. Olympic Committee and was athlete ambassador to the U.S. Anti- Doping Agency.

Holden coaches and holds cycling clinics and cycling camps as well as serves as a consultant on women’s cycling issues and products. She was called one of the “greatest ambassadors in the sport of cycling” by Ride Magazine (March, 2008).

Holden was sixth at the 1993 national time trial championship. She suffered a compression fracture in her lower back and had to miss much of 1994. Holden returned the next two years and won the time trial championships in 1995 & 1996.

Holden was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a two time member of the U.S. junior triathlon team and was awarded the Triathlon Federation USA junior triathlete award in 1991. She finished seventh at the junior triathlon championship that year.
