Margo wrote a memoir in 2015 entitled Margo: Queen of Country & Irish – The Promise and the Dream, which was published by The O’Brien Press.

Margo is the sister of Daniel O’Donnell, an Irish singer. Daniel got his start in Margo’s band while he was in college in Galway in the 1980s. Margo was named 2007 Donegal Person of the Year and spent much of 2007 touring Ireland as an ambassador for her home county. She lives in Castleblayney County Monaghan with her partner.

Margo began performing country music in 1964 at an early age with The Keynotes, a local band. Her first single, “Bonny Irish Boy/Dear God”, was recorded in 1968. It was a huge success.
