A fall at a horse show in 1991 caused her broken bones and nerve damage to her left foot. She was told by doctors that she would never walk again. She was riding again the next week and competing 10 weeks later. A 1,200-pound (540kg) horse fell on her in 1992 at a show. It opened a 12-inch (300mm) cut on her back, and she also broke four of her ribs. She sustained injuries to her face in a fall in July 1998. The next day, she rode. She also broke her left shoulder and fractured her arm.
