Staib served as an exchange officer with the United States Air Force, working on strategic procurement initiatives in industry, supply chain integration, and technology. This service was awarded the United States Meritorious Service Medal.

Air Vice Marshal Margaret Mary Staib (born 20 Dec 1962) is a former Chief E Officer of Airservices Australia. She was also a former senior officer with the Royal Australian Air Force.
Staib was the Personal Staff Officer to Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command in the mid 1990s and later the newly established joint service Commander Support Command. She completed a Masters of Business logistics at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Between 2002 and 2005 Staib was the Director of Planning and Logistics – Air Force and in 2005 attended the Australian Defence College gaining a Masters of Arts in Strategic Studies from Deakin University.
