Torres was awarded the Olympic qualification standard in the Women’s Long Jump at the Kazakhstan Open in July 2016. She also set a new national record with 6.72 meters. This allowed her to qualify for the Rio Olympics. This marks the third consecutive and final Olympic appearance of Filipina Long Jumper, who is the oldest member of the national contingent.
On April 7, 2016, Torres, who came from maternity, won the gold medal in the women’s long jump event of the 2016 Ayala-PATAFA Philippine National Open Invitationals held at the Philsports Arena. Torres registered a 6.60 m jump in her 5th attempt, falling 10 centimeters short from the Olympic qualifying standard.
Torres placed 22nd out of 32 athletes at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He failed to make it to the final.
