Mare Dibaba is one of the most popular and richest Marathon Runner who was born on October 20, 1989 in Shewa, Ethiopia. Mare Dibaba Hurrsa, a long-distance runner from Ethiopia, was born 20 October 1989. She was the 2015 World Champion in Athletics in Beijing. Dibaba is not related with Tirunesh Dibaba, the track Olympic champion and world records holder.

Mare finished third at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon on February 2011. She was the favorite pre-race at the Los Angeles Marathon in march, but she was defeated by Amy Hastings (2:30:25) and Bezunesh Deba (2:30:25). She won the Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon a month later by a narrow margin of 1 minute. In August, she was the Bogota Half-Marathon runner-up. She was not selected to the world championships team in that year but she was selected to represent her country at 2011 All-Africa Games. There, she won the half- marathon gold medal in a Games-record time of 1:10.47 hours. At the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, she improved her marathon time to 2:23.25 hours. She finished second behind Koren Yal. At the Delhi Half Marathon, she finished sixth.

In 2015, she won the marathon at the World Championships in Beijing.

In 2014, she won the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:25:37 hours. The win was announced 30 January 2015, as Rita Jeptoo was suspended retroactively for an EPO positive drug test to 25 September 2014, which would have made her ineligible for the Chicago Marathon that she finished first.

She regained her Ethiopian citizenship and placed second behind Elvan Abeylegesse at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. She led the race to the 20-kilometer mark. Her time of 1;03:47 was the fastest time by any woman in

2010. Elvan Abeylegesse was second, with a time of 1:07.13 for the half marathon. In March, she made her marathon debut with a 2:25:38 finish at the Rome Marathon. In April, she won the Rabat Half Marathon. She also made her debut in the United States in August when she won the Crim 10-Miler and News and Sentinel Half Marathon. Although she was a leading name at the Frankfurt Marathon, her personal best of 2:25.27 was not enough to place her fifth in the fast-paced race.

As a result, she was selected for the marathon team at the 2012 London Olympics, but she was somewhat slower in the Olympic marathon, running a time of 2:28:48 hours and finishing 23rd. Her last performance of the year was a runner-up finish at the Philadelphia Half Marathon.
