He was a tutor at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Instituto Superior de Arte Havana/Cuba. Numerous of his students won prestigious piano competitions. His piano playing and teaching methods have been recognized as having “great influence” on high school graduates and their international development. His most notable students include Natasha Garcia Guinot, Francisco ParedesLlanes and Nora Maria Lastre.

As an active member of Lions Club International he periodically gives charity concerts, whose revenues help to support the various charitable activities of this largest non-governmental organisation – the only service club that officially belongs to the United Nations.

He is also a specialist in Roman Antiquity. In 1996, he completed his musical studies, including a concert exam. He was a sensation with his performance of 3 at Laeiszhalle, Hamburg.

Following the romantic tradition, Kretzer created sophisticated and effective paraphrases on Argentine Tangos and transcriptions of classical orchestral works for one, two and four pianos – the latter he performed in 2008 during a tour of Germany with the ensemble “Kla4” (Piano4te).
