He was born February 11, 1965 in Hernando. He was a significant figure in Argentine Basketball, defending Argentina for two titles and Atenas 14 club titles. He was twice named MVP. He was the player who had the most assists during the 1994 FIBA World Cup. He was a one-club man and played his entire professional career with Atenas.

His community activities earned him institutional and public recognition. He was named an illustrious citizen in the cities of Hernando and Rio Tercero as well as San Marcos Sierra, Cordoba, and San Marcos Sierra. He was awarded the first “decade” Golden Olimpia Award Basketball in 1993. Ten years later, it was presented to Emanuel Ginobili.

Milanesio currently works on sharing his experience and knowledge of the game. In 2004, he organised his first National Campus at Villa Carlos Paz, which has since successfully repeated every year, and receive around 150 children and teenagers from Argentina, andfrom neighbouring Bolivia and Chile.

On August, 2010, Milanesio was designated as assistant coach to and helper of Sergio Hernández to the Argentina national basketball team, preparing for the 2010 FIBA World Championship, in Turkey.

Milanesio was Argentina’s defense and won the 1987 South American Championships in Asuncion (Paraguay). At the 1990 FIBA World Championship in Argentina, he was Argentina’s point guard. Argentina won the 1995 Pan American Games gold medal, defeating Team USA in the final.

Milanesio started basketball at the Military Factory of Rio Tercero. He was affectionately called “Tachuela”. Mario, his brother, joined club Atenas with Milanesio in 1982. He made his debut in the senior squad in a match of the local league “Torneo León Zakalian”, organized by the Argentine Basketball Association. Milanesio scored four points in that match, which saw Atenas defeat Union San Vicente. Mario, his brother, also made his debut that night and scored 22 points.

1984 was the year that the then-National League became the “Liga Nacional de Basquetbol”. Atenas lost the semis to River Plate and was eliminated. The first season of LNB began one year later. Atenas qualified to the finals and lost to Ferro Carril Oeste 2:1. Milanesio had played 37 games and scored 415 points, an average score of 11,12. This would mark the start of 649 consecutive Atenas games. Ferro C.O. eliminated Atenas in the following season. After a score of 3-2, Atenas reached the semifinals.

He suffered an injury before the beginning of the 1998–99 season that benched for the first time in his career. When he returned to play, Atenas won a championship. He never played for the national team after his injury. In 2002, he retired from professional basketball, with 14 Championships with Atenas, and 2 with the national team.
