Marc Restellini is one of the most popular and richest Art Historian who was born on June 24, 1964 in Saint-Omer, Hauts-de-France, France. Marc Restellini, a French museum director and art historian, is Marc Restellini. His grandfather, Issac Ancher, was his grandfather and he was born in Saint-Omer in Pas-de-Calais in 1964. Restellini received a degree from the University of Paris-de-Calais in history and then a DEA at the Universite Pantheon-Sorbonne in art history. He later became a lecturer there from 1988 to 1993. His thesis at Sorbonne was about the Leopold Zborowski art dealer.

Restellini curated art exhibitions around the world. Zborowski’s painters show was inaugurated at Fondation de l’Hermitage, Lausanne, for its 10th anniversary (1994), Georges Rouault’s (1997) e Modigliani’s (1999) retrospectives at the Modern Art Museum of Lugano, Switzerland. Picasso’s exhibition at Bogota’s National Museum of Bogota (2000) was inaugurated in the presence of M. Jacques Chirac as well as well as well- Marc Restellini was the Art Director and Project Manager for the Modern Art Department at the Musee du Luxembourg, Paris, from June 2000 through June 2003. The exhibitions included Modigliani’s 2002 retrospective and Raphael’s 2001 retrospective. Both of these exhibitions saw record numbers of visitors.

In 2003, Restellini decided to launch his own museum, the Pinacothèque de Paris with an exhibition of Picasso’s artworks. Following the success of several exhibitions, Restellini opened a second collection in 2010.

In January 2015, after sixteen years of collaboration, Restellini and the Wildenstein Institute decided to separate, and Modigliani’s catalogue raisonné was transferred to the Restellini Institute.

Restellini organized the opening exhibition at Tokyo’s Tobu Art Museum in

1992. It was the first major exhibition of Modigliani’s masterpieces in Japan. Restellini developed a system of roving exhibitions over ten years that allowed him to produce ambitious projects while still making them accessible to large audiences across Asia and Europe. They included the exhibitions at Tokyo’s Tobu Museum and Osaka’s Municipal Museum with Kiki, Reine De Montparnasse (1998) and Georges Rouault (1998). Also, From Fra Angelico and Bonnard, the Artpieces from Dr Raw’s private Collection (1999), which were then taken internationally by Sisley (2000), and Redon (2001).
