Marat Mukhanbetkazyuly Tazhin (Kazakh: Marat Mu’khanbetk’azyu’ly T@zhin , Marat Muhanbetqazyuly Tajin; born in 1960 in Aktobe) is a Kazakh politician. From 2007 to 2009, he was the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. He was previously Secretary of the National Security Committee. He was appointed as an advisor to President Nursultan Kazabayev in September 2009 and secretary of the Kazakhstan Security Council. Marat Tazhin was named First Deputy Head of Executive Office of President of Republic of Kazakhstan in January 2017.
In a government shakeup, Tazhin succeeded Kassym Jomart Tokayev to the post of foreign minister on January 10, 2007. Tokayev was elected the Chairman of Senate.
February 2014 Marat Tazhin was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation.
January 2017 Marat Tazhin was appointed First Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Tazhin met Richard Lugar, United States Senator from Astana, on February 7, 2006 to discuss nonproliferation of biological weapons and cooperation with U.S scientists.

He graduated from Almaty National Economic Institute. He continued his post- graduate studies at Kazakh State University and eventually became a senior lecturer. He interned in London from 1987 to 1988. He was a professor at Al- Farabi University, Almaty.
