Manuel Nin is one of the most popular and richest Catholic Priest who was born on August 20, 1956 in El Vendrell, Spain. Manuel Nin i Guell O.S.B. (born 20. August 1956) is the Apostolic exarch to Greece for the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church.

Nin was appointed a consultant to the Congregation for the Eastern Churches in

1994. This oversees the interaction of the Eastern Churches and the Holy See. He was a religious brother at the time, but he was later appointed to the Pontifical Greek College of Saint Athanasius’ staff as a spiritual director. He decided to pursue Holy Orders, and was ordained a Roman deacon on 22/11/97. Cardinal Lluis Martnez Sistach, Archbishop of Tarragona, ordained him to the priesthood the next year. Boutros Mouallem S.M.S.P. awarded him the rank of archimandrite.

Nin returned to Rome to complete his doctoral thesis in 1989. In late 1991, Nin completed his research on a Greek spiritual writer from the 5th to 6th centuries. He successfully defended the thesis the next January. After his studies, he remained in Rome to teach at various institutions.

Nin was born in 1956, in El Vendrell, in Tarragona (Catalan). His early studies were in his hometown. He then went on to complete them at Colegio La Salle in Reus. He was a candidate at the Abbey of Montserrat on 20 September 1975 and received his novitiate in April 1975. On 26 April 1977, he took temporary religious vows and on 18 October 1980, he made his solemn vows. The abbey’s Theological School of Montserrat began his studies towards his Baccalaureate of Theology. During this time, he concentrated on classical languages of Latin and Greek.

After having completed his studies, Nin was sent to Rome in 1984 to pursue a licentiate degree in patristics at Patristic Institute Augustinianum. He also took additional coursework at Pontifical Oriental Institute (Benedictine-run Pontifical Liturgical Institute) and continued his monastic formation at Pontifical Atheneum Saint Anselm, which is an international center for Benedictine Order studies. In 1987, he completed his coursework and was sent back to his monastery to teach theology and patristics.

On 2 February 2016, Nin was appointed as the Apostolic Exarch to the Greek Catholic Church by Pope Francis, at the same time, being named the Titular Bishop of Carcabia.
