Manny Mantrana, born September 28, 1964, is an American college baseball coach. He was previously the UTRGV Vaqueros’ baseball head coach. This position was held by him since the 2009 season when the program was called the Texas-Pan American Brncs. He represented the University of Texas at Pan American (UTPA).

UTRGV was established in 2015 after the merger of UTPA and the University of Texas at Brownsville. UTRGV inherited the UTPA athletic program, and Mantrana remained in his position throughout the merger. In the fall 2017, he was appointed the temporary women’s golf head coach at UTRGV. He announced his resignation as coach on May 24, 2017. Mantrana was appointed as Special Assistant to Director of Athletics.

Mantrana started his coaching career at Miami Jackson High School. He served there for four seasons, before moving to Miami Dade where he was an assistant coach. After just one year, he was promoted to the position of head coach at St. Thomas. The NAIA Bobcats made it to the postseason nine times, and earned three NAIA World Series berths. His players received degrees in excess of 95%, with at least 25 going on to play professional sports. His record was 434-193-1. He was named Southeasat Coach and Florida Sun Conference Coach respectively three times.

Mantrana graduated from Miami Jackson High School and attended Miami Dade one season. After graduating from Miami Jackson High School, Mantrana attended Middle Georgia where he played for the Warriors in the 1983 NJCAA World Series. He was selected to the All-Tournament Team and was the MVP of the regional tournament. Middle Georgia was second in the tournament. He played two seasons for Skip Bertman at LSU. Mantrana was drafted multiple times before, after high school and three more times during junior college. However, he wasn’t drafted at the conclusion of his college career. He signed a professional deal with the Detroit Tigers. Before he retired from playing, he played three seasons in Class AAA with the Tigers and New York Mets.

For the 2009 season, he was appointed Texas-Pan American’s head coach. They went 52-58 in conference play over four seasons, and he led them to the Great West Conference. The league was disbanded and the Broncs were moved to the Western Athletic Conference. They remained in the league after the merger that created UTRGV. He was 40-61-1 in conference play over four seasons at the WAC.
