Sinclair was a part of the play “Little Lies”, which starred Sir John Mills at Wyndham’s Theatre in London, England. It ran from July 1983 to February 1984. Written by Joseph George Caruso, it was produced by Robert Mackintosh, William de Silva and Tony Tanner. Connie Booth, Anthony Bate and Paul Hardwick were also part of the play. The play was transferred from London to Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre for a six-week engagement. Michael Attenborough directed this production.
Sinclair was awarded the Clarence Derwent award in 2001 for his performance as Gavin Ryng–Maine in House/Garden at the Royal National Theatre. For his role as Major Miles Flack, in Privates on Parade, Sinclair was nominated for an Olivier Award for best supporting actor. He has also appeared in BBC Radio 4 dramatisations about the Agatha Raisin series with Penelope Keith. Penelope Keith plays Agatha while Malcolm Sinclair portrays James Lacey, her neighbor and object of Agatha’s affection.
Together they wanted to send out the message that TV drama must reflect everyone regardless of race, gender, class, sexual orientation or disability. What started as a small handful of voices soon became the Act for Change project. In 2015 The Act For Change Project became a registered charity and in 2016, Malcolm Sinclair became an ambassador for the charity. Malcolm also serves as a Trustee of ACT, the Actors’ Children’s Trust, and Denville Hall, the actors’ care home.
