Grant was born to Duncan Grant and Mary Grant in Brooklyn, New York on June 21, 1988. Grant grew up in Brooklyn, New York with three siblings: Unique and LeVar. Todd Myles and Larry Major were his basketball coaches at Robeson High School. Grant averaged 24.0 points, 2.0 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game in his senior season to win the PSAL player award and the New York Post’s all PSAL player award. Grant was also honored in the 2006 Jordan Brand Classic. He attended Winchendon School for a year after he graduated from Robeson. This was to prepare him academically for college. Grant was a three- star recruit for Rivals.com Scout.com, and 247Sports.com in the 2007 recruiting class.
Grant opened his second season in Miami with 23 points. He did this to help his team beat Jacksonville 89-77. Grant scored 10 points and had 9 assists in Miami’s win over McNeese State on November 24, 2010. Grant scored 26 points, a record for him, to help his team beat West Virginia 79-76 on December 4. Grant scored 23 points against NC State on January 23, 2011. He was also 5-5 on three point field goals, which tied the school record for most three-pointers. Grant played in all 36 games, setting a school record. He averaged 14.8 points per game, which was a season-high, with 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists, as well as 0.9 steals. Grant also played 32.4 minutes per night. He was selected to the All-ACC Third Team for his performance in the 2010-11 season.
Grant opened his last season for Miami with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, to help his team get past Tennessee Tech 69–58. He posted a season- high 22 points, against Ole Miss in his senior season. In the first 10 games of the season Grant averaged 15.1 points per game, but missed two games in January to attend his brother’s funeral, who died of a heart attack. His brother’s death affected his game, going 7 games without scoring double digits in February, and finished the season averaging 10.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Grant graduated from Miami with a degree in Sports Administration.
After going undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, Grant joined Cypriot club APOEL. He left APOEL in December 2012, averaging 7.0 points and 1.1 assists per game in 7 games. In January 2013 he signed for the Wollongong Hawks of the Australian League. He produced a season-high performance, scoring 21 points, against the Adelaide 36ers. In 11 games for the Hawks, Grant averaged 10.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. In January 2014 he joined Halifax Rainmen of the National Basketball League of Canada, to leave the club three weeks later to pursue an opportunity in Sweden. While with the Rainmen, Grant appeared in 7 games, averaging 13.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. On February 2, 2014 Grant joined LF Basket Norrbotten of the Swedish League, as a replacement for Keith McLeod. He left the club shortly afterwards, appearing in 3 games and averaging 8.0 points per game. In February 2015 Grant returned to Canada joining Mississauga Power. On February 24, 2015 he scored a season-high 28 points against the Halifax Rainmen. Grant started 6 of his 7 regular season games with the Power, averaging 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
Grant transferred to Miami University in April 2008. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Grant sat out 2008-09 season. In his debut game for Miami, he scored 6 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dispensed 3 assists in just 24 minutes. He scored 18 points against UNC Wilmington in his season-high scoring effort. This was a feat he tied against Boston College. Grant played in all 33 games and started four of them. He also led the team with 117 assists. Malcolm Grant, born June 21, 1988, is an American professional basketball player who plays for Pieno zvaigzdes Pasvalys in the Lithuanian Basketball League. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. After playing high school basketball at Robeson High School, Grant attended The Winchendon School, a college preparatory school. To play for Villanova University, he enrolled. He transferred to Miami Hurricanes after his first season at Villanova.
Grant made a verbal commitment that he would play for Seton Hall under the direction of coach Louis Orr. Grant changed his mind about Villanova because Orr’s status as Seton Hall’s coach was uncertain. He scored 16 points against Stony Brook in his first game for Villanova. He scored 18 points in the final seven minutes of the game to help Villanova beat LSU 68-67 on December 7, 2007. In just 18 minutes against Rutgers, he scored 23 points. He played only one minute each of the three following games. After Jay Wright’s decision not to play Grant, he saw very little playing time the rest of the season. He was released on April 4, 2008 to pursue transfer possibilities to other universities.
After graduating from the University of Miami, in 2012, with a degree in Sports Administration, Grant joined APOEL in Cyprus. He then moved to Australia to play for the Wollongong Hawks. In 2014, he joined the Halifax Rainmen in Canada to leave shortly afterwards to play for Swedish club LF Basket Norrbotten. In 2015, he had a second stint in Canada, this time to play for the Mississauga Power. He continued in Canada in the next season competing for the Island Storm. Following his stint in Canada, Grant took his talents to Europe playing for KK Šentjur and BC Nevėžis.
