Williams was born in Birmingham, England. She began her career as a model and won the Miss Black Beautiful title in a 1973 contest. She went on to form Black Beautiful People, her own band after this initial success. Sheyla Bonnick, her friend, moved to West Germany later. In 1975, while dining at a restaurant with her friend Sheyla Bonnick, an agent approached them and asked if they would be interested in joining Boney M, a new pop band. Williams later said in an interview that you don’t have to say no. Although she had previously sang in a local band back home in England, her brother Billy had told her off: “You have terrible voices.” You should continue to work as a clothes-hanger.

Farian was promoting Liz Mitchell’s group as the authentic continuation of Boney M. The court heard that “she had not sung on any of the band’s recordings”. On 16 February 2009, Williams had judgement in the case, that Farian has to account to her for pay on all record sales and future sales.
