Lutfi Haziri is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 8, 1969 in Gjilan, District of Gjilan, Kosovo. Lutfi Haziri, born 8 November 1969 in Gjilan (Yugoslavia), is the mayor and former deputy prime Minister and minister of Kosovo Culture, Youth and Non- residential affairs. In February 2006, he headed the Kosovo delegation to the Vienna talks about the political status in Kosovo and Serbia. Haziri, a key figure in Kosovo politics, was a candidate to succeed Ibrahim Rugova as chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo.

He was elected Chairman of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities in June 2001. Haziri also served as chairman of the Kosovo Municipal Delegation at the Congress of Local and Regional Governance (Council of Europe) during this time.

Haziri stepped down from federal politics in 2013 to run for the mayorship of Gjilan again, which he won.

Haziri was convicted of leading the Kosovo Liberation Army structures in the Karadaku zone. Haziri was released in August 1999 and became the Deputy Mayor of Gnjilan. In November 2000, he was elected mayor of Gnjilan. He remained in that position until December 2004.

Haziri, who was elected President of Youth Forum in Gjilan by the LDK in March 1990, served as its president from 1997 to 1997. Haziri was elected Deputy President of LDK’s Gjilan branch and member of the General Council of LDK Pristina in 1997. Haziri continued in both of these roles until 2000.

Haziri was a member of the University of Pristina’s student leadership structures in the 1990s. Haziri, who was a member of the Ministry of Defence of an unrecognised Republic of Kosova in 1990, was responsible for many functions in the parallel structures that existed in Kosovo at the time.

Haziri is, amongst other, a member of the Network Board of Local Authorities in SEE (NALASEE), member of Kosovo Budgetary Commission, an honorary citizen of the Luterbah Municipality in Strasbourg, France and a member of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
