Luis Iberico is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 2, 1959 in Lima, Lima Region, Peru. Luis Carlos Antonio Iberico Nunez, a Peruvian journalist. He was born 2 January 1959. He worked in several news stations throughout his journalistic career between the 1980s and the 1990s. He was known for his opposition to the Alberto Fujimori government and denouncing numerous allegations of corruption in the media. He presented the first “Vladivideo”, which would show the extent of the major corruption under the leadership of Intelligence Chief Vladimiro Montsinos. His involvement in Fujimori’s fall would win him support for a career as a politician.

Along with Gonzalo Carriquiry, Fernando Olivera Vega and Francisco Palacios, he took part in the August maneuver that would lead to the fall of the regime. Iberico reached out to those who provided him with the video of Montesinos paying Alberto Kouri money, in order to convince him to switch to the ruling party. The video was presented at a press conference held at Hotel Bolivar on 14 September 2000. Its impact was so great that it eventually undermined the regime. Montesinos fled and Fujimori resigned from Japan. A transitional government was formed under the leadership of Valentin Paniagua. The term of Iberico would be reduced to 2000-2001.

He was hired by Astros Producciones (Channel 13), with the project of a new journalistic program, but it proved to be a failure. He subsequently hired as Press Director of ATV (Channel 9), where he lasted til early 2000. Later it became known, thanks to ONE OF the notorious “Vladivideos”, that the channel’s manager, Julio Vera Abad, agreed to government pressure to withdraw the journalistic programs on Channel 9, in exchange for a substantial cash payment.

Throughout his political life, he as served in Congress four terms, three of them being non-consecutive, between the years 2000 and 2020. He would serve as President of Congress for a brief period of days in July 2014 and for a full- term from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Peruvian Ambassador to Italy, appointed in the presidency of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

He founded the newspaper Referendum in 1998 with Fernando Viana. It was closed after one year due to government manipulation by the National Intelligence Service, (SIN), led by Vladimiro Montesinos. He founded the Liberacion newspaper in 1999 with Fernando Viana, Cesar Hildebrandt and Cesar Viana. It was the only printed press to resist the regime’s rule.
