Lovemore Moyo is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 29, 1965 in Kezi, Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe. Lovemore Moyo, a Zimbabwean politician, was born 29 January 1965 and served as Speaker of the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe between 2008 and 2013. He is the National Chairperson of the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai party led by Morgan Tsvangirai.
Moyo, who was elected Speaker, predicted that Parliament would be a powerful check on the executive. It would have to “find ways to negotiate with the legislature to pass programs”. He promised that he would remain neutral as Speaker of the House of Assembly. However, he said that he would not forget the MDC’s position that Robert Mugabe’s 2008 election victory was illegal.
Moyo was reelected in March 2005 to continue serving the same constituency on the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Education, Sport and Culture and on Public Accounts. Moyo is also a member the SADC Parliamentary Forum.

Moyo was a member of the Zimbabwe African People’s Union in the Rhodesian Bush War. He was stationed in Zambia from 1980 to 1980. Later, he joined the political pressure group Open Forum. He is a founding member of Forum Party of Zimbabwe. Later, he founded the political and cultural pressure group Imbavane Yamahlabezulu.
Moyo was elected Secretary of the Matabeleland South Provincial Executive in 1999. Moyo was elected Secretary to the MatabelelandSouth Provincial Executive, and also a National Council member. He was elected Member of Parliament for Matobo Constituency, Matabeleland South Province in June 2000. He was a member on the Portfolio Committee on Education, Sport and Culture and on Public Accounts Committee.
In 2006, Moyo succeeded Isaac Matongo as National Chairman of the MDC. In the March 2008 parliamentary election, Moyo was re-elected to the House of Assembly as an MDC-Tsvangirai candidate from Matobo North constituency. He received 3,503 votes, defeating Kotsho Dube of ZANU-PF, who received 3,102 votes. When Parliament first met for its new term on 25 August 2008, Moyo was elected as Speaker of Parliament, receiving 110 out of 208 votes in the House of Assembly in a secret ballot. Moyo reportedly received 99 votes from MDC- Tsvangirai faction MPs, seven votes from MDC-Mutambara faction MPs, and four votes from ZANU-PF MPs. ZANU-PF did not present a candidate against Moyo and instead supported Paul Themba Nyathi of the Movement for Democratic Change faction led by Arthur Mutambara.
