She is an American former collegiate All-American right-handed hitting, left-handed pitcher and right-handed hitting softball pitcher. As a member the Team USA winning in 2000, 2004 and 1996 Olympic Champion, she was also a three-time Olympic Champion. Harrigan was a collegiate player at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas from 1989-1992. She holds numerous records, including the Big West career record for shutouts and innings pitched. Harrigan is also a USA Softball Hall of Fame Honoree.

Harrigan’s jersey number, which was retired ceremonially on February 26, 1998, was retired by Harrigan. Later, Harrigan was inducted into UNLV Rebels Hall of Fame.

Harrigan was selected for the conference’s First Team and third team All- American. She had a career-best strikeout ratio of 5.7 and school season records WHIP, ERA, top-10 shutouts, strikeouts school marks and school season record WHIP. She also pitched three no-hitters, and a perfect game. Harrigan’s 8-inning victory over the Missouri Tigers on March 24, 1992 was her school’s perfect performance. Her ERA was ranked 10th in that NCAA season. She would be the first school to set a single-game strikeouts record for Southern Utah Thunderbirds, setting it on February 14 with one of her no-hitters.

Harrigan’s career was launched when she was named to the 1989 Second Team All- Big West Honoree. She set school records for ERA, strikeouts, and shutouts. All of these are still top-10 all time. She was awarded the same conference honors her sophomore year. She also broke her own ERA records and set new records in wins (1990 NCAA Top-10) and shutouts. Harrigan would improve her own ERA record, and set a new school and career record in strikeouts. She is a top-5 player in school seasons with wins, shutouts, and innings pitched. The league top-10 marks for innings are still held by Harrigan. Harrigan also threw two no-hitters in that season. On May 23, Harrigan’s second and final appearance at the WCWS was a 13-inning loss against eventual champs, the Arizona Wildcats.

She was a contestant on the 16th season of the reality competition The Biggest Loser, titled The Biggest Loser: Glory Days, which premiered on September 11, 2014, on NBC. She began the show weighing 301 pounds and was 210 pounds on the day of the finale. A total weight loss of 91 pounds.
