LJ Strenio is one of the most popular and richest Freestyle Skier who was born on February 8, 1989 in Burlington, Vermont, United States. Strenio was born in Burlington on February 8, 1989. At the tender age of 7, he began skiing at Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont. He quickly became a competitive skier. He attended Waterville Valley Academy, New Hampshire’s freestyle academy. Strenio was able to attend the freestyle part of the program. However, the tuition at the school was too expensive for him so he brought his school work to Waterville Valley Academy in New Hampshire. He worked through his assignments with an instructor. At the age 16 he began his freestyle ski career. He won the 3rd Avila Youth Gun Open. This win gave him exposure and beat out more than 100 competitors.

Ski the East sold a few photos from the Meathead film Prime Cut in 2011 after Hurricane Irene’s devastation. The profits were donated to the Mad River Valley Community Fund, which provided flood relief for people who were affected by the storm.

In the same year, he entered Level 1’s Super Unknown III ski edit contest but lost to Michael Clarke. While still in high school, he began filming with east coast film company Meathead Films and has been featured in their movies Born from Ice, Snow Gods, Wanderland, Wild Stallions, Work it Out, Head for the Hills, and Prime Cut. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Utah pursuing a dual major in English and Film. His school life is balanced with a busy schedule in competing and filming in freestyle skiing. In an interview with ESPN, LJ Strenio brought up how chaotic things could be with his schedule. He would sometimes have to pass up filming segments due to conflicts with his contest schedule.

He was awarded a place on the JOSS Team Newschoolers with Gus Kentworthy, Matt Walker and Gus Kentworthy for his 2010 JOSS (Jon OlssonSuper Sessions) video entry. His King of Style 2010 video entry placed him among the five finalists for King of Style 2010. Strenio also won the Rails to Riches rail jams, which are held every year at Killington Resort, Vermont. He was a participant in the Dew Tour 2010-11, 2011-12 and finished 3rd and 4th at WSI 2009. He also competed in the Denver Big Air. LJ Strenio was voted Readers Poll Skier Of The Year and made it to round 16. His upbeat attitude, technical tricks and unique style have earned him wide recognition. LJ Strenio won the 2012 Powder Magazine Awards for best manmade and best jib. He appeared on the top page of Europe’s Skiing Magazine. He competed in the Layton Marathon, his first marathon, in 2010. He finished 2nd in the 20-24 age group with a time 3:25:37.
