In 1982, she moved to Denmark to study economics at Copenhagen Business School and University of Odense. In late 1983, Haavik was partnered with John Hatting and they soon got married. She began to pursue music full-time, and she also stopped studying economics.
Haavik continues her music career, and her latest offering, “Cry Me a River”, was released in 2007.
With the song “Duer fuldaf logn”, she represented Denmark at the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest. Both partners were present at Contest but Haavik was the only one who sang and received credit during the performance. Hatting would have been credited as the composer earlier. The song placed sixth of the 20 entries in the Contest. After trying and failing to represent Denmark in 1985 and 1984, this would be Haavik’s only appearance at Eurovision. In 1988, she attempted to represent Norway.
