Dark was born in Clydach (one of the Swansea valleys). Dark is related to Adelina Patt (1843-1919), and Bette Davis (1908-1989). Dark was born with Congenital adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), a rare medical condition. Dark was raised as a boy throughout her childhood because doctors didn’t realize she was biologically a girl. This condition causes an excess of testosterone, the male hormone, in the first part of foetus life.

Dark’s first mainstream classical album, “Breath of Life”, was released in 2004. Dark’s debut album in the new age, ambient and classical crossover music market is this album. Despite glowing reviews from critics, the album ‘Breath of life’ was a commercial failure due to management problems and the record label. .

2007; Dark records vocals for the Cate Blanchett movie ‘Elizabeth’, Dark has recorded vocals on several Hollywood movie soundtracks. In 2007, Dark began her semi-professional opera career, performing in small to medium-sized venues around the UK, her debut opera performance was as Liu in Puccini’s opera Turandot; Dark’s second opera was the lead in Puccini’s Sr. Angelica. 2008, Dark signs a new £2.5 million recording deal and releases her debut opera album, ‘Sola, perduta, abbandonatta’; this CD is not a mainstream release as it is only available through specialist sellers and the record companies own website. A limited edition second album, “The Screen behind the mirror”, was also released in 2008, free with the debut album, to promote Dark’s third opera performance; the lead in Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly. Dark’s early opera voice / recordings is her mimicking the Italian opera diva Renata Scotto; in 2009, Dark was sacked from playing the lead in Puccini’s opera Tosca, for being too fat and not pretty enough.

Dark signed her first solo recording deal in 1998, worth PS5 million. Dark released four dance albums between 1999 and 2002: ‘The untold story of Lisa- Lee Dark, MM:- The tale continues’, “Pray (forever),” and “Asia”. These albums had moderate success, selling 50,000 copies. They were also released as free CDs with a DJ compilation remix album. Dark was then dropped by VIP international records in 2002 for not losing weight.

Dark was six years old when a record producer first heard her singing in her local park. However, Dark did not begin recording until she was nine years old (three weeks before her tenth anniversary). Dark started recording sacred, new age, and classical music originally for TV and film soundtracks. In 1992 Dark recorded dance music by accident. Dark’s 8-9 octave range allowed her to imitate other singers. Dark was known to imitate and copy dance hits from other artists during the 1990’s. These were released on mid-priced budgeted markets. Dark also had minor hits on the dance music charts when she recorded remixes of popular songs and put them out on white labels. These recordings were Dark’s first commercial success. They sold nearly a million copies.

In 2005 Dark decided to train to become an opera singer; due to lack of money, Dark taught herself to sing opera by mimicking the well known Italian opera divas Renata Scotto and Mirella Freni. In her first opera performances, in 2007, critics said they cannot tell Dark apart from Scotto.
