She returned to Texas to join the oldest honor society, the Friar Society. She was an Academic All-American at UT three times. She represented her country and school at the 2006 World Collegiate Archery Championships, in Slovakia. Lindsey completed several 50,000-word novels as part of the National Novel Writing Month project, while she was pursuing her double-degrees. As an administrative assistant, she worked at Trinity United Methodist Church in Austin. In 2009, she was awarded the Mike Wacker award from the Texas Parents Association. She also won many writing awards in English Department, including a unique memorial scholarship. This article is published bimonthly by The Alcalde, the UT Exes Association’s bimonthly publication. She was one of twelve Liberal Arts students to receive the Dean’s Distinguished Graduate Award just before her May 2011 graduation. She is a life member of the University of Texas Exes Association.
In 2008 Lindsey finished competition for the USA at the Summer Paralympics in Beijing with a bronze medal by shooting a score of 105 (out of a possible 120), the highest women’s recurve score of the day. This marks the first time since 1984 that an American woman won a medal in Paralympic Archery competition, and the first time in 24 years that an American woman medaled in singles archery competition in any Olympic Games.
After Lindsey retired from the sport, she offered private archery lessons at a range in central Austin for three years. She was certified by USA Archery to serve the community as a Level III Coach in the National Training System, which was designed by US Olympic Head Coach Kisik Lee. Often in collaboration with other local coaches, she held seminars on NTS technique, as well as certifying others to become Instructors and Coaches within the sport. She retired informally from coaching and transitioned her archery students to other coaches in 2014 after accepting a position as a Program Coordinator with the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering.
She was 8th out of all adult ablebodied female recurve archers in America on April 1, 2005. She finished 2nd at Texas Shootout archery tournament (as a (able-bodied), senior recurve) female senior recurve. While attending University of Texas, she continued competing while completing a double major English and history. She represented the United States at competitions in Korea and Slovakia.

A 13-year-old girl was in middle school when a math teacher heard her discuss with a friend about the lack of physical education options for students in wheelchairs. He suggested that she try archery. Lindsey joined Archery Country JOAD as an archer, and she participated on a weekly basis. JOAD stands for Junior Olympic Archery Development. She set many records over the years, competing in both an able-bodied and disabled category. In December 2002, she had to undergo a 16-hour surgery to shift 2.5cm of bone from one side to the other at the Rochester Mayo Clinic. She also suffered a hip fracture and had to learn how to walk again. A few months later she competed in the US national tournament, finishing 47 out of 71 archers. Lindsey represented America in international tournaments, starting in 2003 at Madrid’s International Paralympic Championships. She won a slot to the United States Paralympic Games 2004.
She set a world record for shooting at 70m at a target of 122 cm during qualifying round at the 2004 Athens Paralympics. Lindsey finished 6th in Athens, as a standing female recuse archer.
She achieved both All-American and Academic All-American status as an archer in both 2006 and 2007 for UT. In 2006 Lindsey finished in the National Archery Championship US Open in 5th place as an able-bodied archer.
