Lina van der Mars, who had passed her A-Levels in Munich 2000, moved to Berlin to be a drummer for Lemonbabies. She also began studying at the Free University of Berlin. At first, she received a master’s in Indian and Dutch philology. Later, she was awarded a history of art degree. Her media work led to her giving up her studies in 2002. Van de Mars worked first as an intern, then as a freelancer at Sony BMG/Epic, as a tour assistant and promoter. She worked with many artists, including Lorien, Goldjunge, Destiny’s Child and MIA (within Unirocker-Tour). She began her motor mechanic training at the same time. In 2014, she completed additional mechatronics engineering training. Lina van der Mars later worked as a mechanic for Alfa Team Engstler in the Beru Top 10.
Lina was found and hired by DSF (today Sport) in November 2003 as a talent to present at her old auto repair shop. In February 2004, Lina was on air for the first-ever time, in “Tuning TV”, which was presented first by the so-called tuning angels. Van de Mars was the sole presenter for this format since 2006. The TV station DMAX contracted the “Berliner of choice” for the program “Der Checker”, which she presented together with Alexander Wesselsky until 2011. She was the main face and has been since 2011 with a new cast.
In 2011 and 2012 van de Mars participated in the TV total Stock Car Crash Challenge as a member of the eBay Motors Team. From March 2012 to March 2014, she presented the internet magazine TecTV.de of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). 2013 van de Mars, who acquired her racing license in 2008, drove for Mercedes Benz in a prototype the rally “Aicha des Gazelles” in Morocco. Only one year later she competed for Opel a complete rally season in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup in the context of the German Rally Championship. Since October 2014 Lina is the car expert at Sat1 – breakfast TV. Lina was and is often featured on covers; in addition, many print stories were realized with her.
